Custom Seafoods Processors, Inc. has been processing sport-caught fish and wild game on the Kenai Peninsula for 30 years. Within our 12,000 square foot facility, we can handle the influx of sport-caught fish as well as process a variety of fish species to serve the wholesale market simultaneously. We are looking for driven, highly motivated individuals to join our team and help us continue to be the preferred seafood processor on the peninsula.

 

Job Summary:

We are hiring now for Seafood processor positions! To be considered, the applicant must be 18 or older and should have commercial processing experience. Must be able to identify Alaskan seafood species. Attention to detail and the ability to cut seafood in acceptable form and quality required. Processors are also required to participate in plant clean-up and other similar or related duties as requested or assigned. Overtime and weekends required. Ability to lift 60 pounds and stand for long periods of time. Willing to train the right person.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Clean, scrape, trim and fillet products.
  • Correctly identify seafood species.
  • Read and follow tagged instructions.
  • Review workspace for cleanliness and safety.
  • Assist with plant clean-up as needed.
  • Reliable attendance habits required. Report timely and work as scheduled.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong knife skills.
  • Read, write and recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers.
  • Basic math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Ability to work quickly with other employees while mentally focusing on the job the entire time.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Work while standing and making repetitive motions using hands, arms, legs and back, frequent rotations and twisting and bending at the waist.
  • Regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds.
  • Flexibility Required. Available to work a variety of hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, long shifts, overtime and late-night shifts.

 

Education & Experience:

  • Previous seafood industry experience is a plus.
  • We also welcome employees with no prior experience or training.
